Natural Materials
Cave is experienced in designing and working with a range of natural materials, including straw bales, lime, timber, rammed earth, and cob. Straw, for example, can be used to create load-bearing walls that act as structure and insulation in one. It is a readily available by-product of the agricultural industry and can therefore be used very economically. When constructed with care and attention to detail, building with straw results in healthy, thermally efficient, and long lasting beautiful buildings. Best of all, straw (along with other natural building materials) is fun and easy to work with!

We’re passionate about transforming the throwaway economy into a circular economy through recycling and minimising waste. Straw, car tyres, and recycled glass aggregate are just some of the materials we specify.
